25 Years of Construction Excellence

Throughout 2011 GMI Construction Group will be celebrating 25 successful years of operation in the UK construction industry.

GMI Construction has a proud history that stretches back to 1986 when the company was established as a building contractor based on quality, reliability and honesty. 25 years later, the same values are still at the core of the business.

Over the years the business has grown steadily and is now one of the largest privately owned construction companies in Yorkshire.

With a loyal team of staff, where the majority have served 10 or more years with the company, GMI Construction continue to deliver on budget and on schedule on every project undertaken.

This commitment of quality is evident with the significant project portfolio built up over the years ranging from the construction of small office units; to the largest cantilever stand in the world at its time for Leeds United with the iconic east stand.

GMI’s success is also undoubtedly down to the collaborative partnerships formed throughout the years. The team at GMI have built some fantastic working relationships which have resulted in some of the most recognised projects in our region.

Here are some messages we’ve received to commemorate our 25th anniversary:

From business parks, to retail parks, office developments, shopping centres, football stadiums, football academies and hotels, we have found GMI to the best. They have always been a contractor working closely with their clients to achieve the best results in terms of efficiency of costing, completion dates and quality of workmanship. Many congratulations to GMI on achieving your 25th anniversary where I am sure our respective Groups – with different characters at the helm – will go on to celebrate 50 years in 2061!

GMI’s association with Exel and now more recently with DHL spans most, if not all of the last 25 years. The strength of this partnership has been firmly established and is rooted in a professionalism of which all at GMI can be justly proud and has been a significant factor in the successful delivery of some major projects over the years.

To sum up GMI Construction in one sentence I would say: They are a no nonsense construction company that delivers on its promises. I have known GMI Construction for a number of years and together we have developed several high profile projects.

I hear that GMI Construction Group will be celebrating 25 years of construction activity during the course of 2011. I cannot let this landmark pass without complimenting the Group on its many successes and achievements over the period; with a large number of construction contracts being for ourselves where, without hesitation, I can say that we have never experienced any difficult in our dealings with you both as to the product and its cost but also finishing on time.

I have always enjoyed a really positive relationship with GMI, its people, its culture and its way of doing business. Open, pragmatic and keen on continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

Kilmartin Plowman & Partners commenced have worked with GMI over the entire 25 years. As a contractor, throughout this period they have offered a high standard of work and importantly have been a pleasure to work with on many high profile projects, from large industrial developments to city centre headquarter offices. As with all projects they present their challenges and these have always been positively and cheerfully addressed.

All of our Directors would like to offer you our warmest congratulations on reaching your 25th year of successful operation in the UK construction industry. We have all enjoyed working with you over this time and have always appreciated the extremely high standards of construction which GMI always achieves and your professionalism when acting as our Clients on many occasions.
