The works include the construction of a modernised office building with 3 individual blocks of 5-7 storeys, interlinked at one end by a large glazed atrium. Other features include a single storey semi-basement, incorporating car parks, store and plant rooms.

The car parking layout is co-ordinated with the structure grid for the 3 blocks. At the centre of the building there is a front reception/entrance block with access via 5 staircases, 8 personnel lifts and 1 goods lift.

The building achieved a BREEAM energy efficiency rating of ‘Excellent’ with the decision to upgrade from Very Good taking place during the fit-out. Comprising a steel frame structure with composite in-situ metal decked floors, encapsulated with a stone and metal rainscreen cladding system and dry wall lift shaft construction.

This project comprised of glazed curtain walling combined with ‘glazed blockwork’ masonry with feature waved stainless steel mesh sun shading to the east wing.

The tiled reception area and cores, combined with polished masonry feature wall and including metal cantilevered staircase.

The offices are all fully air conditioned with small power distribution under the access floors and ‘cats’ lighting scheme.

These influential buildings were key to the creation of Sheffield’s Digital Campus and at the centre of the city’s new Economic Masterplan. Today, they highlight the skills, potential and viability of the area’s creative and digital industries.

With a mixture of high quality curtain walling and attractive stone cladding, this impressive structure was designed to be modern and minimal throughout, while energy efficiency was a key requirement throughout the build. Both the main buildings were required to provide BREEAM ‘very good’ ratings and incorporate the latest energy efficiency features.

Building One currently provides 50,0002ft of office space on four floor levels, whilst Building Two provides 50,0002ft on five levels. Both enjoy an impressive ground floor reception area with double height feature reception.
