Our People
![]() Our people are truly our greatest asset and our investment in them is at the heart of our business. We take their well being and personal development very seriously and acknowledge that we play a major role in maintaining this.
We are entirely committed to the ongoing development and advancement of our people, developing our very own training and development programme which provides structured learning and development for all employees.
As part of a unique work experience scheme, GMI has joined forces with Rex Proctor & Partners to launch a new programme which involves employing two undergraduate students over a total period of 12 months. After 6 months with each company they will swap over for the remaining 6 months to get a real insight into the world of construction from two different perspectives. The work placement forms part of their ‘year in industry’ requirement which provides students with practical real life experience and prepare them for the world of construction. Over the 12 month period the students will receive hands-on experience in all areas of commercial practice covering areas such as procurement, design, cost valuations and looking at final accounts. This will provide them with business skills such as negotiating and presenting as well as the more technical aspects of estimating and design. In addition to these two students, GMI has also employed two undergraduate students in Construction Management who are also undertaking a work experience placement as part of their degree courses. We are proud of the calibre, diversity and integrity of our employees and we have achieved the Investor in People accreditation which recognises our investment in the well being of our personnel.
