Peter Gilman

Peter Gilman - Chairman

Peter founded the wider group of GMI companies back in 1983, including GMI Construction. He has been at the forefront of the property development sector in Leeds, throughout this time and led the establishment of Thorpe Park - one of the UK’s largest Business Parks.

Peter is a passionate football supporter having previously been Board Director of Leeds United FC from 1980 to 1996.

Jim Shann

Jim Shann - Chief Executive

Jim Shann was appointed Managing Director of GMI in 1984. Jim was responsible for overseeing the successful growth of the construction company up until 2008 when he took on the role of Chief Executive.

Jarrod Best

Jarrod Best - Managing Director

Jarrod joined GMI in 1993 at the age of 16 as a trainee Estimator/Quantity Surveyor. His dynamic personality quickly saw him working on some of GMI’s most prestigious projects.

Jarrod was brought onto the Board of Directors in 2005 and became Deputy Managing Director in 2006 and appointed Managing Director of GMI in January 2008

Paul Whitaker

Paul Whitaker - Commercial Director

Paul Whitaker has assumed the post of Commerical Director at GMI Since 1997. With over twenty years experience rising up through the ranks at GMI, Paul has worked as project surveyor on many of GMI’s prestigious projects developing relationships with a number of clients and promoting repeat business within the organisation.

David Shann

David Shann - Financial Director

Prior to joining GMI in 2004 David spent 10 years in the financial sector working with clients from a wide range of industries including property development, retail, manufacturing, distribution, education, and entertainment.

David was appointed Finance Director and Company Secretary of GMI Construction in 2005.In 2011, David was recognised for his outstanding achievements as he was honoured with the title of Young Finance Director of the Year Award at the 2011 Yorkshire Finance Director Awards.

Andrew Kemp

Andrew Kemp - Construction Director

Andrew Kemp has over 40 years experience in main contracting, 25 of those as a GMI main board director. His vast knowledge and expertise in being able to identify and manage the correct way of doing things on site and his ability to be able to deal with complex issues successfully and safely has created a high performance level which is now instilled within the company and its management structure on all contracts.

John Naylor

John Naylor - Estimating Director

John Naylor joined GMI in 1984 as a Senior Estimator responsible for all estimating duties. He was promoted to Estimating Director in 1994 and became a main board Director in 2004.

John has overall responsibility for tenders ranging from £500,000 to £30 million. His work also includes preparing accurate budget estimates for a wide range of clients.

Nick Shepherd - Pre Construction Director

Nick has over 20 years construction experience, as an integral part of our business he is involved from pre to post construction stage and supports our estimating department with design & build and 2 stage procured tenders.

Other key roles include, Business Development, Framework & Key Client Management, Project delivery, Resource allocation and co-ordination, Risk management / risk review, Innovation and continuous improvement, Buildability & value engineering, Design and programme management
