Work on a new conveniently located medical centre at the heart of Headingley is currently being undertaken by GMI Construction. The centre will improve choice and access to a range of medical services for over 14,000 local people.

The £5m scheme will see the upper floors of St Michael’s Court building next door to the Arndale Centre converted for medical purposes. When it opens in summer 2011, the state of the art facility will house two medical practices - Burton Croft and Holly Bank Surgeries. A pharmacy is included in the retail plans for the ground floor.
The new medical centre will aim to improve patient choice and access as well as help to take some of the pressure off the local hospital by proactively managing less complex cases in the community.
Major advantages of the new surgery will be its modern spacious premises with full disabled access and ample on site car parking. The new location is well served by public transport and will be immediately next to the proposed NGT Headingley halt.
St Michaels Court will provide significantly more space than the practices’ existing surgeries in converted houses which lack the necessary space for the expansion and extension of services into areas such as medical training.
