Thorn Lighting

In 2003, Thorn’s comprehensive modernisation and continuous improvement programme at its manufacturing facility in Spennymoor was really starting to gather momentum and yielding a massive 72% reduction in returned goods.

Through that same period it had also lowered its environmental footprint and impact by more than 70%.

Standstill

This impressive momentum however came to a standstill in 2007 where Thorn got to the point where the design and capacity of its existing manufacturing facility was actually constraining the ongoing development of the business.

The challenge was set to design and build a new facility to further build on Thorns impressive operational efficiencies whilst keeping disruption to the company’s operations and delivery to an absolute minimum.
